The instrument I have chosen is the trombone.  The trombone is part of the brass family and was created in Burgundy the late 1400s.  It is based off the instrument known as the side trumpet and was considered an improved version.  The original name for the trombone was sackbut.  The trombone is a very popular instrument to use in a marching band.  It is even sometimes played at graduations on some versions of “The Graduation March”.  The trombone can even be heard in the background in the popular 80’s song “Come on Eileen”.  The reason I chose to write about the trombone is it is the instrument I played for band class in seventh and eighth grade.  There was a time I could play the instrument fairly well, but I have not played it since.  The song, “Trombone Dixie”, created by The Beach Boys, is a song which is composed of almost entirely trombones.  It contains a great demonstration of the range a trombone has.  Although it was recorded in 1965, it unfortunately was not released until 1990.
