After reading about the six historical periods in Western Art music, the one period that intrigues me the most, has to be the Classical Period, taking place from ca. 1730-ca. 1829. The thing that excites me the most about this time period is music, is the advancement in what the music was centered around. Within this time period, the Industrial Revolution happened, according to the textbook, which helped the middle class rise. The textbook describes the music as aligning with ideals of classic Greece, indicating melodies that would contrast as well as tonal areas to, “delineate formal sections.”
The composer I picked, was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I heard Mozart Symphony #40 in G Minor. This song definitely aligns with what the textbook describes, showing the use of string instruments. Though I can say that I definitely expected this, being a player in an orchestra for a large part of my life.
