I chose the drums as a musical instrument that I would like to talk about. Drums have been with us since as far as 6000 BC when Mesopotamian explorers dug up “cylinder like” objects from the ground. There are many types of drums as well such as a bass drum, snare drum, bongo, and many more. Long ago, drums were made of a metallic body and for the head, it was covered tightly by animal skin. The tighter the animal skin stretched around the drum, the higher the tone would be. if the animal skin was not as tight, the tone would be lower. In many cases, several people have said that drums are the key part to partake in a band. Bands such as Evanescence, Panic at the Disco, Lincoln Park, and Twenty One Pilots have used drums in their music. However, rock bands are not the only genre that uses drums. Hip Hop artists use drums as well such as XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, and Post Malone.
A sound that primarily uses drums is by Twenty One Pilots called “Stressed Out.” From the beginning to the end, you hear the drums playing fluently and causes a steady beat where the rapper/singer can say his lyrics.
I agree with you that XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, and Post Malone have used drums before. I didn’t know that drums were first created by animal skin. It’s really interesting that the tighter the animal skin stretched around the drum the higher the tone would come to be. Thank you for sharing 🙂
I agree that the drum plays very important role of the modern music. The drum always perform together with cymbals to create the rhythm of the music and the beat of the music can coordinate with your hear beat.
