I feel that I would be most comfortable at a jazz club. This is because the atmosphere is more of a playful, fun, interactive one, compared to the experience of the other two. I’m more of a person that likes to move around rather than sit so I think that would be the main factor for me. I think the performance I’d be the least comfortable at would be the chamber music recital. Not that I’d be “uncomfortable” at any of these performances, this is just the one I wouldn’t enjoy as much. This is due to the fact that everything is so professional and stiff. Although I wouldn’t have the best time I still appreciate the professionalism and respect held at these types of events. When I was younger, I performed at recitals so I know how everyone has to be on point and can’t mess up a single thing, so based on my personal experience it just wouldn’t be for me since I know how much pressure and stress are put onto the performers at times. At a jazz club, I would expect to see and hear group of musicians just having a good time together in an upbeat and happy manner. I’d just expect to see them let loose and just be free from restriction. I’d also anticipate seeing the musicians dress more freely as well, in a semi-casual sense. As a listener I believe I’d be expected to also let loose a little and have a good time with those around me. At a chamber music recital I’d expect to see the ensemble/performers at a farther distance than where I would be seated. I’d expect to see a very organized, professional performance with a possible intermission. I’d expect to hear a set of possibly classical-esk music that may or may not tell a story depending on how the event is composed. I’d expect the musicians to be dressed very clean and professional. As a listener I would be expected to be seated for the entirety of the performance besides given intermissions/breaks. I as well would be expected to dress clean and professional.
