As per the textbook “Libertango” originally called “Tango” performed in the smoky bars and dancehalls in the capital city; Buenos Aires of Argentina in the 1890s. It begins from the poor and broken but well-dressed young people by creating the dance that has the flavor of urban street life in earlier days. So, the tango song’s lyrics have so many emotions, sentiments, and love. Moreover, the most famous tango musician of the 20th century, Astor Piazzolla, born in Argentina who moved from Argentina to NYC and Paris, created the “Libertango” as an improvisational form with music and dance together. In his dance, Tango – dance for couple and led by the man. He used extraordinary dance concepts in his “Libertango” by using one woman and three men to dance together by building key; improvisation on their steps – forward walking, exit, turns and rotation, hooking one’s leg on the partner’s leg and using whip-like legs movements. As well as, musical form is same from its beginning to the end but it’s improvised by using one specific rules; on which, music starts with clapping and violin in the background which takes over by the flute and above it we can hear accordion, and again string take over accordion but different than the beginning. The overall dance form is 32- and 16- bar sections, which changes in between the dance and music (quadruple meter). So, the “Tango”, one dance form shifted from Argentina to Paris as a most popular dance and later it came to the U.S. It was originated as popular music but sometimes used in Western Art music too. Earliest tango’s instruments had a violin, flute, earlier guitar or an accordion, but later it grows with other instruments; as a small size of orchestras by getting knowledge of new instruments in different places. However, its original flavor, theme; love and sentiments are still the same in the “Libertango” dance form which creates a romantic feeling in the people that come through heart and present in the dance. As time passes the setting of music and dance has changed. It started from the street and bar and now uses in the film industry because people taste keep changing so the composer always wants to give something new among its audiences.
Furthermore, as per the textbook, another dance form “Ballet” originally came as Classical ballet from Baroque France (1661) sponsored by King Louis the 14th. After that, in mid- 19th century ballet came as story ballet which tells a story of love. Then ballet in early 20th century came as Russian ballet but in French style and flavor. Later, a Russian ballet composer, Igor Stravinsky premiered a different; historic ballet “The Rite of Spring, 1923” story of pagan Russia arrival of the season, Spring. As per their ritual, to welcome the Spring – the new beginning, a virgin girl must sacrifice (death) her life by dancing. In “The Rite of Spring” (Russian ballet) we can hear the large orchestral music that follows continuous dissonant harmonies having heavy changes of the meter which is followed by the performers (ballet dancers) by jumping, running, and acting weirdly on the stage. Whereas in the Classical concept; ballet dance used to perform by a young girl by emphasizing the beauty of the human body gracefully – smooth uses of the body, slow steps, and amazingly clean moves, smoothness and tells a love story being based on its pleasing, melodious, and soft music. In comparison with classical concept later ballet performed in a ritual dance with terrible; harsh and clash, musical sound in the Rite of Spring. But people got panicked and stand a riot on the stage because of such jarring and fierce musical sound at the premiere. Audiences took it in a negative way in the beginning. Later, it became famous for its ritual concepts of dance and music as a different form of ballet and till this day’s ballet is performed in the drama too.

I also spoke about “The Rite of Spring” and I agree that the attitudes toward this piece have changed drastically from the past to present. This change is ultimately a positive as now people are more accepting towards this unique performance rather than storming out in anger.
