I chose the song, “Little Game” composed by Benny(Ben J. Pierce) and published in October 2014. This song was written to reject the gender roles of men and women being pressured to fit into their born gender and how they should act in society. Everyone should have their natural rights to do what they want and not be judged by others just because they are a “male” or “female”. One should not have to change their hobbies just because society thinks they are too feminine or masculine. For example, in this song, the boy represented by the blue jersey was reaching out to play with the doll rather than the toy truck and other action figures. Then, he is cornered by the two other boys and will later on be beaten up for not following the male gender stereotype of “all boys should be playing sports like football, playing with action figures, being completely masculine, etc.” This is also the same case for the girl represented in the pink dress. The girl opened the book and experienced the same pain as the boy just because she didn’t follow the female gender stereotype of “all girls should be using makeup, measuring waistline, using the book for posture purposes, etc.” There is nothing wrong with a boy enjoying playing with dolls or girls reading books. It shouldn’t be one’s identity at fault but rather society’s opinions.

When Pierce says, “Hush boy” there is a crescendo present and the overall harmony of this song is consonant as the technological instruments play one after another. Towards the end of the song, there is autotune allowing Pierce voice to change from high pitched to low pitched in a quick fashion.
