GarageBand is an online musical software that was developed by Apple, which allows you to create your own unique projects. You can create songs and types of podcasts in GarageBand. It puts a complete music studio on your computer, so you can make your own music to share with the world. GarageBand’s purpose is unlimited and infinite because it is out there for people to enjoy and learn about creating music. It has eight project templates with trap types instruments and effects preloaded which allows to work on a particular genre. For example, the song writer template has a lot of audio tracks, software instrument tracks, and drummer tracks set up specifically for what a typical songwriter may need. There are also three trap types available in GarageBand. The software instrument track which allows to play and record sounds. You can also record your vocals or an instrument through the microphone. As I mentioned earlier, you get to choose what you do with this software, it is out there for you to master, so there aren’t any people that use this technology in a way that it wasn’t designed for. Personally, I do have experience with this software. I tried putting in some bars, just for the fun of it, but once I listened to it I made sure it wasn’t in my Mac anymore. On the bright side, I customized my ringtone tone through GarageBand.
We are familiar with Rihanna. One of her single was produced through GarageBand. Her single, “Umbrella” featuring Jay Z was started with a single GarageBand drum loop called ‘’Vintage Funk Kit 03’’. A drum loop is a short recording of a drum which has been edited to loop seamlessly. By using this in her music the drum loop was continuous, giving the length of the drum much longer. For example, a 4 bar drum loop may be repeated until you get the desired duration.

Hi! I think it’s really interesting that such a popular song was produced by a technology that most people have access to. I love playing around on GarageBand on my phone. They allow you to create and record music in which you can play different instruments and put them together to form your own musical piece. You can even record yourself singing and put it over the instrumental. Overall, the app is very complex and to think that we have access to something like this on our fingertips is even more amazing.
I wrote my blog on GarageBand too! I like your explanation on it, I believe it gets the point of the software across really well. Before reading this blog I had no clue that GarageBand had any involvement on Umbrella. I just like how simple yet so complex the software can be, it gives all sorts of people the tools to make music.
