I would feel a lot more comfortable and enjoy a jazz concert much more than sitting through a symphony orchestra. At a jazz concert, there is a much more laid back feeling. It is more enjoyable music that you can dance to and is usually at a bar or at a very social scene. You’re able to move around a lot more, talk with your friend and have drinks. There’s a lot of cheering and clapping and overall it is a very happy and enjoyable environment. A symphony orchestra’s environment is very quiet and professional. It has a standard that the audience must follow which includes silence, appropriate attire and sitting for long periods of time. It is something that I personally could not handle. With the long periods of time that you have to sit and the instruments that will exhaust you, I know I would fall asleep almost immediately. Jazz on the other hand has loud, fun, and vibrant instruments that make you want to get up, move around and smile. I would feel a lot more comfortable at a scene where there is jazz music being performed versus a symphony orchestra.
