After looking at all the different concert traditions, I would prefer to go to an orchestra concert. I would be much more comfortable there. I have already gone to a concert in Carnegie hall because of a trip I had in high school and I really liked it. One of the reasons I liked it so much was because you have to dress very formally. Others may not like this, but I do because sometimes you just feel like dressing up. At these concerts, you’re expected to sit and listen quietly, which I like because at other concerts (Khalid’s concert) everyone is screaming and you can barely hear the artist singing. I also didn’t like how Khalid stopped and let the audience sing several times, because if you’re there it’s obviously to hear him sing, not anybody else. But performers at concert halls don’t stop for anyone. Also, I like to be sitting down because when you’re standing up at other concerts you can’t even see the performer. For example, my sisters went to a Dennis Lloyd concert not long ago, but they had to keep on pushing through the crowd to get a good view. And at one point their view was completely blocked because the guys in front of them were too tall.

I would be the least comfortable at a Jazz concert. In the book, it is stated that the audience and even the performers don’t know what pieces they’re going to play. This does not sit well with me because I like to know what it is that I’m going to be listening to. It is also said that the audience is usually dressed in very casual attire, like jeans. Like I said before, sometimes you just like to dress up. The audience is expected to dance, but when you’re short, like me, you get pushed around on the dance floor.

  1. I was enjoying to watch other audiences to put on their formal clothing, too. Before enjoy the beauty of music by ear, I can enjoy the beauty of clothes by eyes. It is like the extra bonus to enter to an orchestra concert.

  2. I absolutely agree with you in attending an orchestra concert. The 3 times I’ve been to Carnegie hall were amazing. Also the fact of dressing formally in those types of concerts doesn’t bother me because you feel much more like a different person because of the nice vibe it gives you.
