Among the different concert traditions, I would be more comfortable at the jazz club as an audience. I haven’t been to any jazz club but as far I have seen the jazz club performance on the television, I enjoyed it. I like its music that comes out by playing multiple instruments like trumpet, saxophone, guitar, drum, and bass. As stated in class “instruments take turns playing improvised solos” so I can always hear new and rousing music. Since its jazz, so I would expect to wear informal and not to be at any strict rules of not using the phone and socialize. I would expect to eat, drink, dance and cheer up the music while I am at the jazz club. As per the textbook, “there is a deepening relationship between musician and music, among musical colleagues, and between musicians and their audiences” (pg 286). So, we can say in music like jazz; the audiences’ expectations of enjoying the music to its fullest and musicians’ expectations to entertain audiences by giving their best (cheer up) are fulfilled. Because there is close communication between performers and audiences.
Although I haven’t been to any symphony orchestra concert either. But amongst the concert tradition, as per the textbook and television shows, the symphony will be my least comfortable one. Though I like the orchestral music and tunes, this type of concert expects audiences to be quiet, well dressed, cell phone to be turned off due to its expected environments and set of the standard so I might enjoy less in such concerts.

I wanted to choose Jazz too but I kind of like symphony orchestra more. The jazz may be loud but I like being around a large set of instruments just like an orchestra. I see that you have quoted from the textbook, and it is really evident to support your opinion. I’m not sure if we have to but great blog!
