I would love to attend a jazz club as an audience member but after looking at the rest of the musical concert I had a change of heart.  I would personally feel more comfortable going to a symphony orchestra concert. As we saw in class the Mozart’s Symphony I saw the crowd, and I would feel most comfortable here because I personally liked how much space the orchestra had between the audience. With this distance I would be able to see everything in a retrospect and would enjoy the space, as the instruments being played. The instruments would not be so loud that it will hurt my ears rather I  would be hearing a peaceful melody. I admire the understanding of the audience being separated from the performers because it shows respect and it lets you feel the music at that level of silence. I also like to dress up and by going to a symphony orchestra I would have the chance of doing that. I would expect for the listeners to be silent and not disturbing the conductor, while he’s focused conducting the orchestra. I would also expect to hear a number of instruments from the performers. I have been to an actual show before but it was all loud and chaotic so I would love to attend a musical setting just like this.

I would be least comfortable at the chamber music recital. It is more closer to the audience members, which can feel very uncomfortable at times. For example, when you sneeze or making eye contact it can get very weird and you feel like you are the only person doing it. Chamber music can consist of string quartet such as violin, which I like the most and piano trio. I wouldn’t like that environment also because I want to more performers and more instruments being played.

  1. I also love the formality of orchestra concerts! It’s fun to dress up and I enjoy listening to a peaceful melody from a distance. I like that you pointed out the different sense of respect the audience gives to the orchestra compared to a jazz show, which is a significant part of the varying experience at each of these musical concerts.
