I want to introduce my country’s aboriginal tribe’s music – “Pasibutbut”.  This is a very unique genre which was not contain any lyric and performed only by male’s vocal.  The tribe is call “Bunun”, like many of other tribes in my country they lived and spread out between the mountains of Taiwan.  They have their own language, but no written language was preserved within the tribe, amazingly the vocal skill was intact preserved.  By using men’s vocal create eight parts chorus and contained polyphonic harmony.  The purpose for this music is to pray God to ask the harvest of millet. They always sing it from outdoor then move to the inside of barn to make sure all their grain was blessed. 

            6-12 men form a circle and face inside of circle; a headman starts a low root pitch, then the rest of men would improvise their vocal to match the root pitch then create the polyphony harmony, their scale keep accelerate and will last 4-5 minutes.  My country has about eight different tribes, but until today only Bunun has this kind of skill to improvise the polyphony harmony; because they share their unique cultural together.  Improvised polyphonic is difficult for person to copy, therefore, this kind of music will still preserve only within their tribe.
