I feel I would be most comfortable at a jazz performance over a chamber music recital and a symphony orchestra concert.  A jazz performance takes place in a club, a place where you don’t really have to dress up and can dress more casually.  Not only that, but jazz tends to not follow specific forms and more goes with the flow.  This is better for me because I do not have the greatest ear for identifying different music styles.  I feel I would be least uncomfortable at a symphony orchestra concert.  People tend to dress up nicely when going to these concerts and are constrained to their seats for almost the entire time (not counting the intermission).  I am a person who likes to move around and would not enjoy being stuck in my seat for long periods of time.  In a jazz club, I would expect the performers to be dressed semi-casual and move around a little on stage.  In a symphony orchestra concert, I would expect the performers to stay where they are and be very strict with the notes they are playing.  I have never actually been to a concert before, but I have seen music performances on television in the past.  I am making my predictions based on what I have seen on TV in the past.

  1. I completely agree with you about how jazz clubs are a place that is way more relaxed in terms of how you have to dress up and how you are expected to act. I also relate to what you said about having to walk around because I can’t also sit still for hours in a symphony orchestra concert. I think having to just sit and listen to one type of music without being able to use your phone is also something that is super uncomfortable.
