“Good Girls Go Bad” is a dance-pop song produced by the American pop band Cobra Starship which features Leighton Meester. It was officially released on May 11, 2009. This particular song emphasizes the male’s coercion capabilities on the opposite sex. As a result, the female in this scenario becomes convinced by the male’s tactics and affirms a similar sentiment. For example, the male singer says “Just take a bite (one bite) Let me shake up your world Cause just one night couldn’t be so wrong I’m gonna make you lose control”. This evidently proves that the man exerts a dominant power over the woman. He is confident that he will be able to manipulate the good girl into turning bad. In addition, he implies that the female is weak and will easily lose control for him. In response to the male singer, the female singer says “You’re that guy I’d be stupid to trust But just one night couldn’t be so wrong You make me wanna lose control”. This clearly shows that though the woman is aware of the wise decision, she becomes manipulated and convinced by the man’s dominance into losing control. Therefore, this musical example confirms the gender role of men being capable of persuading weak women.
The song “Good Girls Go Bad” was created using a synthesizer that imitated several instruments such as the drums and guitar. There was a lot of autotune used in the song as well which allowed the male singer to change his voice from high pitched to low pitched. The song is primarily upbeat and consists of consonant harmonies.
