As we learned about the differing concert traditions, being the jazz club, the chamber music recital, and the symphony orchestra concert, we understand that there is much difference in what is expected in each individual type of concert. The type of performance in which I would be the most comfortable as an audience member is the jazz club. The Jazz Club is mainly music that is improvised by well experienced performers. As audience I would expect to see performers, various instruments including percussion, bass, and trombones. I would be comfortable being part of the audience in a concert like this because there are not many expectations that the audience would need to meet to be part of the event. Unlike Symphony Orchestras, where more rules are implied, such as no cell phones allowed. Also, audiences are meant to stay, not move around freely when grand performance is happening. Considering Jazz’s appealing rhythm, I could move along with the music and enjoy the improvisations that performers are playing. On the other hand, the type of concert in which I would be least comfortable at would be the Hindustani Classical type of concert. As audience I could watch a 2-3 hour performance with casual clothing and enjoy the rhythm of percussions, drone and performer’s voice, but with the barrier of language I would not be able to fully grasp the message of the developed performance.

I like how you mentioned about expectations. Also, the way I see jazz clubs is that the performers would most likely want the audience to enjoy their music and spend the night in whatever way they like. Not every music needs to be heard in silence to be enjoyable.
